FAQs

So you’re thinking about booking your first appointment at The Bush? Good on ya’!

Here are some pointers from our knowledgeable staff of estheticians.

What should I do to prepare for my waxing appointment?

  • At least three weeks before your waxing appointment:
    • Stop shaving or trimming
      • Honestly, the longer the better… To reiterate: bushes are more than welcome at The Bush!
    • Start exfoliating gently every other day
      • This will sluff off dead skin cells collecting at the surface of your skin allowing trapped hairs to break free & be easily waxed away.
    • Moisturize your skin & hair daily with an unscented lotion or better yet, stop by The Bush & grab some Bushbalm to use prior to your wax.
      • Don’t neglect your skin down under. The more hydrated your skin is before your appointment the less irritated it may be.
      • Your hair down there will reap the benefits of the moisturizer which will, in turn, make it more elastic & less likely to break during the wax. Broken hairs will result in uneven or bumpy wax results.

What should I do to prepare for my spray tanning appointment?

  • At least a week before your appointment:
    • Start moisturizing & exfoliating your skin daily.
      • This will sluff off dead skin cells & create a smooth canvas for the spray tan to sit on.
    • The night before your appointment:
      • Exfoliate, shave/wax.
        • You won’t want to shave or wax after your spray tan as that will remove the color, so make sure you remove any unwanted hair beforehand.
      • DO NOT moisturize!
        • Moisturizing your skin will leave a film or barrier on your skin & the color may not stay on your skin as long or go on as nicely.

What should I wear to my waxing appointment?

  • For your waxing appointment wearing cotton knickers & loose-fitting pants or a dress is suggested. We suggest that your undies for the following week after your wax are cotton as well which will allow your skin to breathe.
  • For your spray tanning appointment dark, loose-fitting clothing is best. Thongs are our favorite shoe to wear post spray tan. Also, keeping an umbrella in your car may come in handy, you never know when there will be a rain shower!
  • In terms of what you should wear during your spray tan, there are many options.
    • Sheilas, you can wear your bathers, your knickers, or even your birthday suit. Whatever you feel most comfortable in.
    • Blokes, we kindly ask that you wear your knickers.

What should I do in terms of aftercare post wax?

  • Avoid for 24-48 hours:
    • Swimming pools, hot tubs or baths.
    • Working out
    • Saunas
    • Sun exposure or tanning beds
    • Sexual activity
    • Tight-fitting clothes
  • Exfoliate the waxed area 24-48 hours after your waxing appointment about 2-3 times per week.
  • Moisturize the area daily.
  • Do not shave or trim in between your waxing appointments.

What should I do in terms of aftercare post spray tan?

  • Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing while your tan is processing.
  • Don’t get wet or wash off your spray tan until the recommended time has elapsed (2-3 hours for the Express Solution & 6-8 hours for the Regular Solution).
  • When you shower the solution off of your skin we recommend using dark-colored towels to pat dry.
  • You won’t want to shave or wax after your spray tan as that will remove the color, so make sure you remove any unwanted hair beforehand.
  • Moisturizing after each shower is key to prolonging the life of your tan.
  • After about 5 or 6 days, gently exfoliating your body daily will help your tan fade more smoothly.

We know your first appointment can be bloody intimidating, but we are here to make sure your appointment goes as smoothly as possible and at The Bush, no questions are off limits.
