No matter if you get spray tans once in a blue moon, just for special occasions or as often as once a week it’s super important to make sure you have a smooth canvas for the spray tan solution to sit on top of. Let’s go through the steps you should follow to prep your skin & achieve a flawless spray tan!
About 2 or 3 days before your spray tan: It’s super important to start exfoliating your entire body. I recommend using a rough loofah or a set of scrub gloves. You can also use a body scrub, just make sure to discontinue use at least 24 hours before your tan. Body scrubs are frequently made with oils that will leave a barrier on your skin, possibly causing your tan to come out blotchy. When exfoliating, really focus on your hands, elbows, knees, ankles, and feet; these places on the body tend to hold onto the color & develop darker than the rest of the body.
About 24 hours before your spray tan: Stop using lotion, body oils, or any other products that will leave a barrier on the skin. The barrier might cause the tan to come out blotchy or not last as long. Remove any unwanted hair, if you’re waxing make sure to do so at least 24 hours before your tan.
On the day of your spray tan: Shower about 2-3 hours before your appointment, shaving (if you’d like) and exfoliate. Do not apply lotion! The cleaner your skin, the better the tan will adhere and develop.
As long as you follow these simple steps before your next tan, you will leave The Bush sun-kissed without the sun damage. See you at your next tan!
